The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive offers visitors a wonderful opportunity to learn about rich history of Valdez. This downtown Valdez Museum is home to permanent historical exhibits including: They Came for Gold, Disaster on Good Friday, A Beacon from the Past, Richardson Highway and The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill. The A New Valdez exhibit provides a wonderful opportunity to learn about this Alaskan city.
Schedule plenty of time to stroll through the second museum, Remembering Old Valdez, located a few blocks away. In this museum, visitors learn about the 1964 Good Friday Earthquake and the town relocation. A must-see exhibit of the museum, is the 1:20 scale model of the town before the earthquake.
