Juneau-Douglas City Museum
Located in the capital city of Juneau, the Juneau-Douglas City Museum preserves an impressive collection of Alaskan historical artifacts. Due to Juneau’s location along Gastineau Channel, the museum houses a variety of maritime exhibits, like the Montana Creek Fish Trap – roughly 500 years old – and the Juneau hydropower exhibit.
Other featured exhibits include the Drilling & Mining: Hands-On Mining display and the Juneau: City Built on Gold educational video – each showcases the city’s extensive past as a mining community. Guests can take tours, join the museum on a Historic Downtown Walking Tour, and visit during one the of the many programs and special events.
