Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitors Center
Nestled along the Kachemak Bay along the southern Alaskan border in the Kenai Peninsula Borough of Homer. It is quite fitting that this city, "where the land ends and the sea begins", is home to the Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitors Center. This wonderful center strives to educate its visitors on the conservation of the marine environment, in a fun manner, with its hands-on classrooms, labs and interactive exhibits. The center is the world's largest seabird refuge.
Kids and adults alike, enjoy strolling through this incredible Alaskan center to not only learn about the marine life, but to see the variety of art and exhibits on display. Learn about the ocean in the One Big Ocean exhibit; learn about the seabird colony in the unique Seabird Experience Theater and learn about the ongoing watershed research, at the center in the Where Rivers Meet the Sea exhibit. With so much to learn, see and do, be sure to make time for it all. Check into the nearby Best Western hotel for a wonderful night's rest.
